DeLoache Law Office 25+ Years of Excellence Helping Arkansas Families and Businesses Alike

Interview with Attorney DeLoache

What made you choose bankruptcy law?

I enjoy helping people. People with debt problems are often under enormous stress—and they are very appreciative for the relief that I am able to provide them.

In your opinion, what sets your firm apart?

I have 25 years of experience helping clients in bankruptcy. I care about my clients and what happens to them long after my representation of them is over. I assist any client who asks me in restoring his or her credit after bankruptcy so that they can function normally without the burden of high interest loans or face rejection when they try to borrow money to get on with their lives. I guess you could call that service after the sale. It is a high priority for me.

What is one a case that you are proud of?

I had a bankruptcy case wherein after a trial I was able to help a client discharge her student loans so that she did not have to work. She was then able to stay home and take care of her daughter with disabilities. I helped her even though she was unable to afford to pay me for that extra work. I found that very rewarding.

How do you prepare for a difficult case?

I always make sure my clients understand the legal issues so they can help themselves through their testimony and help me to gather the evidence needed to present their case.

How do you view your role in the important attorney-client relationship?

I have a degree in psychology in addition to my law degree so sometimes the counselor side of what I do overshadows the lawyer side. Many of my clients are experiencing great personal stress when they first arrive at my office, and I do my utmost to ensure that their burden is lessened by using all of my skillset.

How are you different from other attorneys?

I have compassion for my clients. I understand their problems as I have faced many of the same problems at one time or another in my own personal life. This is one of the most important qualities that a client should look for when searching for an attorney. Often, I have had clients tell me that they talked to another attorney first but did not feel like they made a connection with that attorney so they did not trust that their advice and judgment was being given completely in their best interest.

How does having experience benefit your clients?

I have handled thousands of consumer debtor bankruptcy cases over the last 25 years. The depth of knowledge I have gained from so many cases is invaluable to my clients when it comes to solving their problems or dealing with their creditors.

What types of cases do you specifically handle?

I handle consumer and business Chapter 7, 12 and 13 bankruptcy cases at this time. I also help with student loan, tax debt, and mortgage creditor problems.

In your opinion, what is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Helping my client get a fresh start and out from under the crushing burden of unserviceable debt is my biggest reward.

What advice do you most often give clients. Why?

The number one thing that I tell my clients is what my maternal grandmother once told me: Everything that happens in your life is either a good or bad thing, the difference is how you choose to perceive it.
